The Bahamas

Summer Sixteen Solstice

The official beginning of summer is finally here. The summer solstice is the longest day of the year so that's an open invitation to feel the burn all day. The heat can be very draining but its the small price you pay when you live in a “I live where you vacation” country. It feels like we have eighty percent of summer per year anyway. And for the most part you’re not going to hear Bahamians mention much about spring and fall because its either really hot or wintry cold.

I happened to go to a local shop called “The Art of Giving” a coffee bar and gift store and I enjoyed my coffee. Iced coffee and blended drinks do help beat the heat, and keep you somewhat energetic. Although I do like coffee I’ve never really bothered much to buy coffee versus brewing a cup myself. I had an experience where I tasted someone’s cold coffee and I tell you no lie the way cold coffee was hyped up I really felt punked when I tasted hers and it was horrible.

Long jeans are like two tall heat tunnels for your legs so I choose to wear some floral shorts and a floral print shirt to mourn the loss of May’s flower to bring in June’s bugs this summer. Bring out the shorts, leave the sleeves at home and let your little piggies toes go to the market because this is about to be an awesome fiery summer.

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised. [Psalm 113:3]
